My 10-Step Skin Care + 70’s inspired look

Some of my friends and readers have been asking me to blog about my skin care. I do the 10 step skin care that Koreans started. They have this famous 10 step Korean skin care that everybody follows.

When I read about the 10 step Korean skin care I told myself I am doing it right.

Even before Koreans came out with their version of 10 step skin care I have been doing my 10 step skin care but I am not using Korean products. I am using all organic products. Altho’ Korean products are good and also organic but the Korean brands that I like are hardly available here. The only Korean brands that’s accessible here in Manila that I know of are Etude House and Tony Moly.

Anyway, here is my 10 step skin care.

First step: Oil based cleanse

The oil base make up remover/cleanser that I have been using for over a year now is this:

The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil

Like I said I have been using this product for over a year now. This is my second bottle and I am about to run out. I already have a back up bottle.

I use 1 pump all over my face especially my eye area. I massage it gently for a few minutes. After massaging and making sure that my mascara has already broken down I get a make up remover wipes to wipe the oil out.

This is available in all Body Shop stores.

This is my favorite make up remover wipes.

Neutrogena Make up Remover Cleansing Towelettes

I like this because the wipes are big and thick. It will moisturize your skin while removing your make up.

This is available in S&R.

Second step: Water based cleanser

After wiping all the make up and dirt on my face I double clean my face to be sure that there is no make up left. The water base cleanser I use is this:

Dessert Essence Thoroughly Clean Face Wash

I cannot live without this product! I have been using this for a long time now and I really love it. It has Tea Tree oil and Awapuhi (native Hawaiian plant). It thoroughly cleans my face and it can control any break outs (because of the Tea Tree oil in it). But if ever I do have break outs it heals it right away. I highly recommend this.

I use a few drops and lather it up on my face. Sometimes if I have full make up on and I feel that my face is dirty I do it twice. You just have to be careful not to get into your eyes ’cause it stings a little.

It cleans your face thoroughly but it doesn’t strip your natural oils.

Third step: Exfoliate

I have mentioned it before that it is very important to exfoliate your face every now and then. You need to remove your dead skin cells so your skin will be radiant and smooth.

I exfoliate my skin 2 to 3 times a week. I use Anadalou Naturals Glycolic Mask. Glycolic is an ingredient that melts your dead skin. You don’t have to use exfoliators that you need to scrub your face. But if you prefer scrubbing your face there’s a lot of exfoliators in the market today.

Andalou Naturals Glycolic Mask

After double cleansing my face and it’s super clean already I apply this all over my face and let it sit there for 10 to 15 minutes before I wash it.

I do this step 2 to 3 times a week only.

This is available in Healthy Options.

Fourth step: Toner

After exfoliating my skin I apply toner. You can find a lot of organic toners. But you can use any toner of your choice. I just prefer an organic toner. The toner I am using now is this:

Avalon Organics Perfecting Toner

I use different brands of toner. This is the one I am currently using now. I like that it has Rosehip. I am crazy about Rosehip these days.

Fifth step: Essence

You might be asking what the hell is Essence. Essence and serum are basically the same. Essence is thicker in consistency while serum is more light weight. But they achieve the same result. In the western world it is called serum. In Asia it is called Essence.

Both are for hydrating your skin. For Essence I use this:

Andalou Naturals 1000 Roses Heavenly Night Creme

I apply this evenly all over my face and my neck. I have been using this since early this year and it does it’s job. It’s so hydrating.

This is available in Healthy Options.

Sixth step: Serum

After applying my essence the serum I am using now is this:

Avalon Organics Intense Defense Facial Serum

I just recently purchased this the other day and used it right away. Before this the facial serum I have been using for over a year is Andalou Naturals Facial Serum. I wanted to try the new range of Avalon Organics the Intense Defense range so, I picked up a few. And this is one of them.

This is available in Healthy Options.

Seventh step: Mask

I use facial mask once a week.  My facial masks are all Korean and I love all their masks! You can get Korean masks in Etude House and Tony Moly.

Eight step: Eye Cream

The eye cream that I use is this:

ROC Retinol Correction Deep Wrinkle Cream

This is not specifically for the eyes but this is what I use for my eye cream at night. I have been using this for about 3 years already and it really help contain my wrinkles under my eyes. I am not saying that it erased my wrinkles (I still have my wrinkles) but it contained it. I love this product. This is one product that I have been loyal to. And mind you this is a drugstore brand.

This is available in CVS and I think other drugstores in the U.S. My friend Tina M. gave me this and she ordered it online.

And for daytime the eye cream I use are (I alternate it):

Andalou Naturals 1000 Roses Eye Revive Contour Gel & Derma e Hydrating Eye Cream

These are available in Healthy Options.

Ninth step: Moisturizer

This is one step that you shouldn’t miss. I used to use La Mer moisturizer for a very long time. But ever since I discovered the organic skin care I stopped using my La Mer. The moisturizer I am using now is this:

Avalon Organics Intense Defense Oil-free Moisturizer

This is one of the products that I picked up from Avalon Organics new range Intense Defense.

I really can’t say much about this yet. It has a citrusy scent and has a thick consistency. I know this is good because it is organic.

This is available in Healthy Options.

Tenth step: SPF

Another product that you shouldn’t miss! The sun block I have been using now is this:

Derma e Antioxidant Natural Sunscreen 30 spf

I just recently purchased this too. For a long time the sunscreen I used to use was Andalou Naturals Facial Serum that has spf 30 (I used to use Chanel sunscreen but I stopped repurchasing ever since I switch to organic products). But a friend told me to use a separate sunscreen especially now that it is summer.

So, there’s my 10 step skin care.

One thing I learned is your products doesn’t have to be expensive for it to work. There are a lot of products that are cheap but are also good. You just have to use it consistently. But try to use the organic ones because they are really good. That is the reason why Korean women have very good skin. All Korean products are all organic.

In other news, I went to my supplier this afternoon to pick up some stones that I needed for my client and I was so inspired to do the 70’s look.

Top: Zara  |  Shorts: H&M  |  Bag:  bought it in a small shop in Tokyo  |  Espadrilles: Chanel  |  Sunglasses: Vintage Rayban Aviator  |  Willow Jewelry Half Moon Necklace  |  Willow Jewelry Serendipity Choker  |  Willow Jewelry Horsebit Bangle

Have a great week end everyone!

  • Whew! No wonder Korean women have good skin!

Napagod ako sa 10 steps LOL. I just do cleanse, tone, moisturize thingy every night with the occasional exfoliating. Sunscreen for daytime use. I seldom wear make-up though. There are times na tinatamad akong gawin pero I have to do my routine. Tapos malalaman ko na there are 6-7 steps that I’m missing out. Haha

Great post Ms. T as always 🙂

    • Yes but I don’t put mask and exfoliate my skin everyday. I put mask once a week or twice a month and I exfoliate twice a week only.
So, basically you don’t actually do the 10 steps daily. Just the cleansing, the moisturizer, serums, spf and the rest of the creams. Thats morning and night. You have to be consistent so you see result right away.

  • wow! effoet kung effort ang 10 step ritual!

love the shorts miss t! reminds me of anya hindmarch. and the pink espadrilles too! the color pops!

at ang ganda ng legs! haha

  • Funny just to get thru my day before I put on my makeup, I literally go through 8 separate products. That’s doesn’t count my 2 other products that I use to exfoliate & a glycolic peel. I guess I am just as bad as you but no worries, every step is worth it. When I started doing all the steps, people use to ask me if I had gotten Botox or fillers . All I did was become consistent .
