Product Review: Eye Make-up Remover

We all have tried all kinds of eye make-up removers. And like everyone else I have searched everywhere for a good one. The best one. The one that can remove waterproof mascara in one swipe. The one that won’t make us look like panda bear in the morning.

That one. The one we all need in our lives.

Is there such a product?

Yes.

Here are my top three:

IMG_43561. Andalou Naturals Fruit Stem cell Science Revitalizing Lash + Lid Make-up Remover

2. Bioderma Make-up Removing Micelle Solution

3. The Body Shop Camomile Gentle Eye Make-up Remover

Among all that I have tried I pared it down to these 3 products. These are the best in the market as of date.

Andalou Naturals Fruit Stem cell Science Revitalizing Lash + Lid Make-up RemoverIMG_4353I have been using this for 2 years already. When I discovered this I told myself my search is over.

I found it!

It removes water resistant make-up seamlessly, it takes out waterproof mascara so fast. And no panda eyes in the morning. Guaranteed.

Fruit Stem Cell Complex fortifies lashes, as gentle botanical emollients gently loosen and remove all types of facial make-up, including water resistant formulas, without irritation or oily residue.”

This is what it says in the packaging. When you read this you silently tell yourself: “yeah, right. Sell it to me more.” You kinda doubt what it says like we do for first time use of products. Wait until we actually try it and then we can say, Yes! It actually works like they say it would.

It is very gentle to use ’cause it is made of organic ingredients. It has Jojoba oil, Aloe barbadensis juice, fruit stem cells, bio active 8 berry complex, hyaluronic acid, Rosehip oil, white tea extracts, etc.

It has all the ingredients that nourishes your skin while cleaning it. It’s like hitting 2 birds with one stone.

How cool is that?

Bioderma Make-up Removing Micelle Solution

IMG_4352I first heard about this product from all the beauty gurus that I follow. All the beauty gurus in Youtube are all crazy about this product.

I had no intentions of trying another product. I love my Andalou Naturals already.

But when I saw this in one of the pharmacies when I went to Paris I thought, okay masubukan nga ito at nagka gulo ang buong Youtube dahil nito. I picked up one bottle.

When I used it that night, I thought hmmm… lumalaban ito. It was also very good. It removed my make-up in one swipe and no panda eyes the following morning.

So, before leaving Paris I went back to the pharmacy and bought a few more bottles. At that time it was only available in Paris. Even British beauty gurus buy it there.

I like Andalou Naturals packaging better. Bioderma comes in a big bottle while Andalou Naturals come in a sleek pump bottle. Another thing that I like about Andalou Naturals is, it is in cream form while Bioderma is in water form and it is not good for traveling.

So, between this and Andalou Naturals, for me Andalou Naturals wins.

But both are good. And I will continue to use both.

The Body Shop Camomile Gentle Eye Make-up RemoverIMG_4350Body Shop has this Camomille line. They have Camomille Silky Cleansing oil and Camomille Cleansing Butter for the face. They have Camomille body butter and Camomille body scrub for the body.

And they also have Camomille Eye make-up remover.

In one of my Body Shop visits early last year they gave me some give aways and one of them is the Camomille Eye Make-up Remover.

I put it aside and was planning to bring it when I travel since it is a small bottle.

When I went to the beach last November I brought this with me. I was surprised.

This is good. This is really good.

Like Andalou Naturals and Bioderma it is gentle, organic and no panda eyes in the morning. Not only no panda eyes even in your lower lash line you don’t have that irritating black line that is hard to remove. You know what I mean.

This clean your eyes very well. I only use 1 cotton pad. I don’t need to use another one to totally clean my eyes. It only takes 1 cotton pad. Your make-up gone and your eyes clean.

I haven’t bought the regular size bottle yet since I use either the Bioderma or Andalou Naturals daily.

Hands down The Body Shop Camomille Gentle Eye Make-up Remover wins.

But it doesn’t mean I will stop using Andalou Naturals and Bioderma. I will still use them regularly. It is better that I have other alternatives.

All 3 products are all good.

You can buy Andalou Naturals Fruit Stem Cells Science Lash + Lid Make-up Remover at all Healthy Options branches. Bioderma is already available here in Manila. You can get it in Watson’s. And of course the Camomille Gentle Eye Make-up Remover is available in The Body Shop.

  • Wow, I’m interested in the Bioderma one! To add to your list β€” have you tried Neutrogena Oil-Free Gentle Makeup Remover? I’ve been using it for years… removes waterproof mascara, heavy gel eyeliner and eyeshadow with just one cotton pad, too! It’s in water form, but the bottle is handy. πŸ™‚ Enjoying all your posts!!!

  • Thank you for this review, Ms. Tina.

I have been contemplating on alternatives for the lip & eye makeup remover I am currently using. Although I find it affordable, I am looking for something more effective & more economical. With this brand kasi, I have to clean my face at least two times to get all the makeup off.

Just two weeks ago, I checked out Bioderma Micelle Solution at Watsons SM Makati but I was taken aback by the price. I read about Micellar water as an effective makeup remover on Yahoo (https://www.yahoo.com/beauty/this-really-works-micellar-water-from-the-107433665798.html). There’s a cheaper alternative (CVS Simple Cleansing Micellar Water) but it’s not available here.

However, I will still consider Bioderma and the other brands you mentioned here. πŸ™‚

      • Ms. Tina, the lady who assisted me at The Body Shop Glorietta yesterday said I could use the Camomile Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover for the face and that it would not work for waterproof make-up. Your thoughts, please. Thank you. πŸ™‚

  • Hi Ms. Tina. Can you give us an update on Vinny’s Lasik. I also had lasik two weeks ago partly inspired by your son’s move. However my left eye is getting blurry. So just want to hear his side.

    • Hi, A!
Vinnys vision is not that okay up to now also. It is still adjusting.
If you had it 2 weeks ago your vision will go up and down cos it will still adjust. Vinny is complaining that he’s having problems when he look far.
We will be going to his doctor on thursday for his last check up. I’ll let you know what the doctor will say.
      Thanks!

  • I just bought bioderma and loving it so far. It’s nice to see reviews like this 😊 makes me want to keep trying and trying new products πŸ™‚

  • Thank you Ms. Tina, Its the other way around in my case. I have problems looking near like when using the computer. I stopped researching on the net anymore because of horror stories I read. Hope its a temporary thing for both me and Vinny. Thanks again,

  • Hi Ms. Tina, thanks for the tip on Andalou and Body Shop. I’ve been using Clarins Eye Makeup Remover (Heavy Makeup Sensitive Eyes) for a decade now and love it. It is so much cheaper at Sasa in HK so we get this in bulk. Lately I have tried a couple bottles of Biopha Organic Makeup Remover Lotion from Souq Organics and it is a great product, and I love that it is organic..

  • Ms tina try shu uemura cleansing oil. It is amazing for removing make up & washing face.

    • Hi, Lea!
I have been using Shu Uemura cleansing oil since early 2000. In fact I still have 1 bottle that I haven’t open yet and 1 opened bottle that I use once in awhile.

Actually, Shu Uemura cleansing oil is one of the best!

      Thanks!
