Pope Francis – Last day in Manila

I was glued to the TV practically the whole day today. I followed Pope Francis’ TV coverage from UST to Quirino Grandstand at the Luneta Park for his concluding Eucharistic celebration.

In spite of the rain there were still a lot of people everywhere Pope Francis went. According to Cardinal Tagle the Holy Father asked him when he saw the crowd in Quirino Grandstand “how many people are here?” I guess the Holy Father did not expect how strong the faith of the Filipino people.

I was left alone at home all through out the day. I liked that I was alone. It was very solemn when I watched the coverage except for a few times when Schumi would bark. Otherwise, it was quiet the whole day.

A few aerial shots of the crowd in Quirino Grandstand:

Tomorrow Pope Francis will go back to Vatican. He touched so many Filipinos and he will be remembered in our hearts forever.

See you again Pope Francis.

  • Ms Tina,
You did an article on Marlene Aguilar before and you seemed all praise on her.
Contradictory to your post now on the Papal visit, what can you say of Marlene Aguilar’s posts against the Pope and the catholics that ms aguilar lambasted on her FB, saying its her right of freedom of speech and expression?

    • Hi, Leo!
Marlene is a good friend of mine. Altho’ we don’t get to see each other often, we have this bond that is strong. It is strong becos we respect each other.
Marlene is very intelligent. While it is true that it is her wall and she can express herself you cannot help also that there will be people who will stand up and won’t agree with what she believes.
I respect her views re: Pope Francis and she respects mine, too.
Our friendship is not based on that. People will always have different views on different things. But for a friendship to thrive you have to learn to respect each other.
I respect Marlene. She respect me. That’s the most important thing.
      Thanks!

      • I don’t get it. Respecting each other’s views. She did say that “papatayin ko ang sumasamba kay satanas (pope)”. That means catholics like you and me right? Literally she will kill you and me, right? So where’s the respect?

  • Of course not, then she’d rot in jail. Figuratively, since she’s your friend, i presume you’d know if she’s joking or not. It’s hard to fathom for those who are not her friend that her continuous tirade against the pope and the catholics for the past four days is just a joke.

    • Hope this helps Mr. Leo- Ezekiel 18:19-20 The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.

  • Oh wow Ms T, I browsed Marlene’s facebook rants. She’s very entertaining and batty. She reminds me of my friend from university who was so sure of herself extremely upfront in your face that while we were having coffee she said “see that man over there thats gonna be my baby’s daddy”. True enough she ran after him even following him on a bus and then all the way to Sweden just to have his baby. 4 years later i saw her walking with her naked child in Tallow Beach Byron Bay . She loved to argue with everybody including burly bikies with their loud bikes, hates religion, prays to the wind, will only have sex when its Full Moon and would verbally admonish people wearing leather including me, has no middle ground she’s either left or right and stays in the sun all day because she loved her 50% Asian more than her white 50% but then ended having a blondish baby. hehehehe. I understand how she’s your friend.
